[1] Know all present and future that I Thomas de la Strode have given granted and by this my present charter confirmed
[2] to my son Richard for his service all my land of la Strod' with all its appurtenances in the parish of Slinford
[3] To have and hold to Richard and his heirs from the Prior of Arundel and his successors from the house of St Nicholas
[4] or to whomsoever he, well or ill, will have assigned it except to a house of religion or the Jewry freely peacefully fully and hereditarily
[5] forever He, his heirs or his assigns yielding for it yearly to the said Prior of Arundel and his successors
[6] seven shillings and three halfpence at the four terms of the year that is in the feast of St Thomas the Apostle twenty-one and a half pence in the Annunci-
[7] -ation of the Blessed Virgin Mary twenty-one pence in the [feast of] the Nativity of St John the Baptist twenty-one and a half pence and in the feast of St
[8] Michael twenty-one and a half pence for all service and all secular exaction except for royal and forinsec service
[9] as much as by right belongs to so much free land of the same fee And for this my gift and grant
